Kohderyhmä: The course is EBTA certified course and is open to Bobath trained therapists who

have completed the Basic Bobath Course in the assessment and children with cerebral palsy and allied neurological conditions or a Basic Bobath Course in the assessment and management of adults with neurological conditions.

Tavoite, aims: To provide course participants with knowledge of the potential variations in the evolving clinical picture of adults with cerebral palsy, and the specific patterns of deterioration most frequently seen, as a basis for the treatment and management of their condition. To afford opportunities for participants to explore in a clinical practice setting the clinical reasoning that underpins effective intervention and to explore specific therapeutic handling skills needed to work with this client group in order to support, their participation health and wellbeing.

Objectives:

· Course participants will be able to:

· Describe the evolving clinical picture throughout adult life of the different classifications of cerebral palsy.

· Identify physiological and biomechanical factors that might lead to decline in the performance of functional activities, restrict participation, and/or compromise the individual’s health and wellbeing.

· Discuss common accompanying health conditions seen in later life and say how they impact on participation; implement strategies to ameliorate their effects.

· Distinguish between pathological causes of deterioration in function associated with CP as a long-term condition and deterioration in function associated with the physiological aging process.

· Adapt therapeutic handling skills to take into account changes in body structure and function associated with CP as a long-term condition.

· Discuss intervention including management strategies and clinical decision making.
